One released WWE star has teased going back to the future with their next career move.

For the first time in 2025, WWE made a series of cuts to its talent roster, with several former champions among those moved on. Stars such as Cedric Alexander, Paul Ellering, Akam, Rezar, and Blair Davenport, were all released, while Sonya Deville has been informed her contract will not be renewed.

It was then confirmed that Giovanni Vinci, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Isla Dawn, and NXT’s Duke Hudson had also been let go. The situation surrounding Karl Anderson raised eyebrows as he is currently injured and WWE doesn’t typically release people while their hurt. Despite that, Anderson could be making plans for his future with new trademark filings. And it seems that future might see Anderson look to his past.

Karl Anderson Teases NJPW Return After WWE Exit

Taking to social media, Karl Anderson shared a short clip featuring his New Japan Pro Wrestling entrance video perhaps hinting at a return to the company somewhere down the line.

Prior to joining WWE for the first time in 2016, Karl Anderson made his name in NJPW where he won several titles. Anderson has held the IWGP Tag Team Championship on four occasions as well as the NEVER Openweight Title. Anderson still held the latter title when he returned to WWE in October 2022.

However, his time in NJPW will best be remembered for him founding Bullet Club alongside Finn Balor – then known as Prince Devitt – Tama Tonga, and Bad Luck Fale in 2013.
