A former WWE star hasn’t re-signed with the company.

It was recently reported that Shayna Baszler had worked as a producer during the July 8 edition of NXT. According to the report, Baszler worked on the match between Kelani Jordan and Lainey Reid alongside regular producer Oney Lorcan.

Her involvement was particularly eyebrow-raising as she was released by the company back in May.

This led to speculation that Baszler could be about to relaunch her WWE career, but this time in a very different role.

Shayna Baszler Not Working In Official WWE Role

However, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Baszler’s involvement backstage has been made into something bigger than it is. He explained that while she has been helping out as an agent backstage, she isn’t working for the company in any kind of official capacity.

“The story on Shayna Baszler is this: she’s got another month. I think the date is August 2 when her 90 days is up, so she can’t wrestle anywhere until August 2. It came out that she was one of the agents for, I believe, the Kelani Jordan match, and the story was made out to be bigger than it was.

She has been at NXT tapings. She has agented other matches, but this is the first one to come out. It’s not like she’s taken a job as an agent. She is doing it since she’s around and they’ve asked her.”

Shayna Baszler originally signed with WWE in 2017 after a spell on the independent scene. The star had only turned her hand to pro wrestling two years earlier after competing as an MMA fighter.

While with the company, Baszler became a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion.
