Released AEW Star Returns To Company

Fuego Del Sol & Roderick Strong AEW logo blur

Rampage saw the return of a former AEW star.

On the August 23rd episode of Rampage, Fuego Del Sol made his return to AEW. On the show, the star took on Roderick Strong, but he was defeated in a little over three minutes.

Elsewhere on the show, there were wins for The Conglomeration, Mina Shirakawa, the Gates of Agony, and The Von Erichs.

Fuego began appearing for the promotion back in 2020 before becoming All Elite in 2021. The star left the company in June 2023 after finding TV time harder and harder to come by.

Cody Rhodes’ Exit Hurt AEW Run

In late 2021 Cody Rhodes was still a regular on AEW television, but he wasn’t wrestling as often as he would have liked. To combat any ring rust, Rhodes struck up an unlikely partnership with Fuego Del Sol under the guise of the star’s long-lost brother Fuego II.

During an interview back in February, Fuego explained why Cody Rhodes leaving AEW was bad for his career.

It was really just a way for Fuego II to stay in ring shape. He felt like he was cutting too many promos on TV. It was great for me because it guaranteed me to be at TV every week. When Cody leaves, I don’t have that guarantee to be at TV every week, it slowly hurt my standing.

Although he’s been away from AEW television, Fuego has been a regular in Ring of Honor in recent weeks.
