Referee Stops AEW Match Due To Injury, Tony Khan Comments

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan has offered an injury update.

On the July 20th episode of Collision, Skye Blue took on Hikaru Shida, but the match came to a quick and unfortunate end.

During the bout, Shida hit a crossbody from the ring apron to the floor, but as she landed on Blue, the latter’s ankle appeared to buckle underneath her. After the star was checked by the referee, the match was waved off, and she was helped backstage by officials.

AEW boss Tony Khan quickly posted an update on social media, writing that Blue was being checked over by doctors.

Thank you all watching Saturday Night #AEWCollision tonight, right now on @TNTdrama!

Our previous match was stopped + @shidahikaru was declared the winner, due to an ankle injury to @Skyebyee.

Skye Blue is being evaluated now by the Doctors; we’re all wishing her the very best.

Tony Khan Loses AEW Star Until 2025

The injury to Skye Blue came just hours after Tony Khan announced that Dalton Castle would be out of action for at least the remainder of 2024.

Castle suffered the injury on the July 13th episode of Collision after being knocked out during a match with Roderick Strong. The bout was taped three days earlier with the winner going on to challenge Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor on July 26th.
