Record-Breaking Champion Admits They Could Miss AEW All In Texas

AEW Tony Khan

One proud Texan could miss AEW All In.

After dominating Ring of Honor and setting a new record for the longest World Title reign in company history, Athena stepped up to face Mercedes Mone in the Owen Hart Cup.

Many fans hoped that this would see Athena feature on AEW television more often, but following her defeat, she’s moved back to ROH. The move also dampened hopes that Athena would appear at All In, which will be held in her home state of Texas.

In a new interview with Rick Ucchino of SI’s The Takedown, Athena admitted she might miss the event, adding that she’d be “super bummed out” if she was forced to watch on from the sidelines.

“I don’t know if that’s in my stars. If not, I have a Ring of Honor pay-per-view that I will probably be defending my championship on. You know, I would probably be super bummed out if I wasn’t on All In, but honestly, there’s still time.”

AEW All In Texas Card Taking Shape

Although the event in Texas isn’t until July 12, a trio of major matches have already been confirmed, with the promise of several more to come.

The first two matches announced were for the men’s and women’s World Championships as a result of the Owen Hart Cup wrapping up at Double or Nothing. Thanks to her win in the tournament, Mercedes Mone will face “Timeless” Toni Storm, and men’s winner “Hangman” Adam Page will challenge Jon Moxley.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Kazuchika Okada will square off against Kenny Omega in a huge title unification match. Both Okada’s Continental Championship and Omega’s International Championship will be up for grabs. The winner will be known as the Unified Champion.
