Real Reason Tony Schiavone Was Off Commentary On AEW Dynamite

Tony Schiavone

Tony Schiavone was replaced on AEW Dynamite commentary duties by Ian Riccaboni, and now the reason for this change has been revealed.

The June 25th edition of AEW Dynamite saw The Young Bucks end up with a serious challenge to their authority at All In Texas courtesy of Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland.

Hangman Adam Page found himself on the wrong end of a beatdown from the Death Riders and the Bucks following his match with the Beast Mortos on the show.

The night kicked off with Mercedes Mone ambushing the AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm as the tensions between them ramped up before their title match at All In Texas.

Tony Schiavone Dropped From AEW Dynamite Commentary

AEW also taped Collision after Dynamite, as that show will air on Thursday night instead of its usual Saturday slot. Dynamite saw Ring of Honor commentator Ian Riccaboni join Excalibur and Taz on announce duties, leaving Tony Schiavone missing from his role at the announce desk. And the reason why has been revealed.

Fightful Select has now reported the reason why Schiavone was replaced by Riccaboni on the show. The report noted that Riccaboni is brought in for Dynamite more often during double tapings while Schiavone conducts interviews on that show. This is simply done to lighten Schiavone’s workload.
