Real Reason Behind Rhea Ripley’s Huge WWE Women’s World Title Win
Rhea Ripley is heading for a big match at WrestleMania.
On the January 6th episode of Raw, Rhea Ripley finally regained the Women’s World Championship with a huge win over Liv Morgan. The two women have been at war for as long as anyone can remember, with each party injuring the other in storyline, and Dominik Mysterio in the middle.
But as Raw debuted on Netflix, that rivalry appeared to finally come to an end as Ripley scored a memorable victory while getting revenge on Mysterio.
After the match as she celebrated, the Aussie star was joined by The Undertaker to the delight of the packed house at the Inuit Dome.
Rhea Ripley Win Linked To WrestleMania Plans
During a recent Live Q&A on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass, Wrestle Votes reported that the title change was made because WWE wants Ripley to be involved in a big match at WrestleMania with the Women’s World Title.
“I think it becomes a numbers thing as we get closer to WrestleMania. You know, two world title matches for the women’s equals probably four participants. They wanted Rhea, obviously, to be one of those.
I think probably Becky and Charlotte’s going to be two and three. And I just don’t think they had a spot for Liv there. So they decided to take the title away from her.”
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Becky Lynch has agreed to a new WWE contract, even if plans for her return to television are yet to be finalised. The report added that despite rumours to the contrary, Lynch was never meant to be at Raw’s Netflix premiere, and a planned appearance wasn’t scrapped.
Lynch hasn’t been seen on WWE television since losing to Liv Morgan on the May 27th edition of Raw.
