Reason For Deonna Purrazzo’s Sudden AEW Absence Revealed
Deonna Purrazzo has been missing from AEW for six months, but now the reason for her prolonged absence has seemingly been explained.
Fightful Select has reported that despite Deonna Purrazzo being absent from AEW and Ring of Honor lately, she has a contract that runs until 2027, having signed a three-year deal in early 2024.
It was noted by sources in the company that injuries to others that delayed the start of the ROH Women’s Pure Championship Tournament ended up affecting Purrazzo’s booking, leading to her extended absence.
Deonna Purrazzo Suffers Due To Title Delay
Tony Khan has admitted he was forced to delay that tournament due to an injury suffered by ROH Women’s Television Champion, Red Velvet. A match to crown an interim champion was instead confirmed by Khan with Mina Shirakawa winning the interim title at Supercard of Honor.
Speaking at the All In Texas media call, Tony Khan explained why that situation caused a delay to the introduction of the ROH Women’s Pure Title:
That situation caused some delays in getting the Pure Title tournament started because, frankly, it’s a lot of the same people fighting for the interim TV champion position, who would also be in line for the Pure tournament. I think Red Velvet will be back in a matter of weeks, maybe a few months, tops.
