Real Reason Brock Lesnar Hasn’t Returned To WWE Revealed

A UFC Legend has provided some insight into why Brock Lesnar has been away from WWE.

The last time Brock Lesnar competed in a WWE ring was at SummerSlam 2023 when he lost a grudge match to Cody Rhodes. It was the third match in their rivalry, following each man’s win in a previous match.

After the match was over, Lesnar hugged Cody and raised his hand. It isn’t something that Lesnar did in his career, but he improvised and felt it was the right thing to do to give Cody “the rub” as they say in wrestling.

There were reports leading up to Royal Rumble 2024 that Lesnar was set to return to WWE. However, days before the Rumble, Brock Lesnar was implicated in a lawsuit brought against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE by a former employee named Janel Grant.

When the lawsuit was amended a year later in January 2025, Lesanr was specifically mentioned. In the lawsuit, Grant claimed that McMahon offered a sexual encounter with her to Lesnar during formal contract negotiations.

While Vince McMahon is fighting the lawsuit and has claimed his innocence, Lesnar has maintained a private life. Although there are occasional photos of him out in public, Lesnar isn’t the type of person to share details from his private life.

Daniel Cormier Suggests Brock Lesnar Is On WWE’s Banned List

During an interview with former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson on MightyCast, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier was asked about having a WWE match against Lesnar. There was nearly a Cormier/Lesnar UFC fight in 2018, but it never happened.

When Johnson mentioned Lesnar’s name, Cormier shot it down.

“I mean, Brock [Lesnar] is on the ban list right now. Oh, dude, Brock got into so much trouble. He knows he tried to hold me and sh*t. You know what Brock did? I ain’t telling you on air what Brock did. Bro is in so much trouble.”

Since Cormier works for UFC and they are under the TKO umbrella like WWE, he likely knows what the “ban list” is. Cormier didn’t specifically mention the McMahon lawsuit that Lesnar is mentioned in, but that’s likely what he was referring to.
