Real Reason WWE Abandoned SummerSlam Press Conferences

Triple H WWE

The real reason WWE stepped away from doing post-show press conferences at SummerSlam has been revealed.

Following in Tony Khan’s footsteps in AEW, Triple H began hosting post-PLE press conferences, taking questions from assembled media and fans alongside other WWE stars.

The press conference was famously where Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso appeared after a few refreshments when they won the WWE Tag Team Championship, and a certain four-letter, one-word catchphrase was born.

At SummerSlam, WWE did not hold a press conference; however, many people were wondering why there was a sudden change of heart. But those questions might have been answered when Brock Lesnar made his shock return to WWE at SummerSlam, attacking John Cena.

WWE Did Not Want Brock Lesnar Questions

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained WWE did not want to answer questions about Lesnar’s return, given his prolonged absence in the company came about as a result of being implicated in the Vince McMahon sexual abuse lawsuit:

I do know, I mean, everyone figured it out, but I can tell you also factually. The reason that they didn’t do the press conference was because of that angle that was gonna happen.

[…] It would look more cowardice to do a press conference on Saturday night and not on Sunday.
