Real Reason For Major AEW All In Texas Change

Tony Khan AEW

AEW has made a major change for its All In pay-per-view in Texas and now the real reason why has been revealed.

As first reported by The Dallas Morning News, All In Texas will begin at 3 p.m. ET, 2 p.m. local time in Texas. In addition, the full schedule for the week of the event has now been confirmed.

This move has come after WWE decided to run head-to-head with AEW, forcing wrestling fans to choose between shows as Saturday Night’s Main Event will also run that night.

AEW Avoiding WWE Clash

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained what many already thought in that AEW moved All In to avoid a clash with WWE:

The pay-per-view will start at 2 pm local time which means 3 pm Eastern, the show would start an hour earlier with a pre-show. The basic gist is they moved to the afternoon to avoid Saturday Night’s Main Event which is the new policy. They didn’t move days but they did move the time.

They proved with All In last year and the year before that they can do real good pay-per-view numbers in the afternoon. It’s not death or that moving (times), it’s the smart thing. There’s a couple of things, one of them is they can go longer. This show starts at 3 pm Eastern, the WWE show starts at 8 pm Eastern. Normally they would do around a four hour PPV show but this is a big show, they’ve not locked in how long they’re going to go but I do know that it’s being considered going over four hours, before WWE starts they’ll have until 8 o’clock.

It’s going to be the biggest show of the year in theory, they’re going to have Kenny Omega and Okada, the world title match which is the winner of [The Owen] against the champion, the women’s title – Toni Storm against whoever wins the tournament which is likely Mercedes [Mone] which is the biggest women’s match they’ve got. That’s the basic gist of it.

WWE has also scheduled an NXT PLE to go head-to-head with AEW Double Or Nothing in May, as part of a clear strategy to cost AEW viewers.
