Real Reason CM Punk Appears At WWE Performance Center

CM Punk

CM Punk has taken time out from being a thorn in the side of Drew McIntyre to attend WWE’s Performance Center and the reason why has now become clear.

CM Punk screwed Drew McIntyre for the third time in recent months at Money In The Bank after McIntyre had captured the lucrative briefcase. The Scottish star had made clear that he would cash in on the same night and did just that when he turned Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins into a triple threat affair.

That’s when CM Punk struck, attacking McIntyre viciously which allowed Damian Priest to nail his South of Heaven chokeslam to pick up the win and retain his gold.

A huge match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk is clearly on the horizon but with Punk still on the shelf due to injury, just when that match will take place remains to be seen.

CM Punk Still Not Cleared To Compete

PWInsider has reported that after CM Punk was spotted in TikToks at the WWE Performance Center, the real reason for his attendance was that he was “in the ring working to get officially cleared by WWE medical.”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer followed up on that issue, noting that Punk is expected to be cleared before SummerSlam and that is likely where his match with Drew McIntyre will take place:

Punk is working on getting cleared, that might have even taken place today because he was in Orlando. He was not cleared as of Monday, but he was expected to be cleared. They were going with the idea he would be cleared. So Punk and McIntyre is likely the match. I can’t say 100% because he isn’t cleared, but it’s likely the direction [for SummerSlam].

SummerSlam will see Cody Rhodes defend his WWE Championship in a huge match as his battles with The Bloodline look set to continue.

Damian Priest will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther at WWE’s biggest party of the summer while Queen of the Ring Nia Jax will challenge Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship.
