Real Reason For Christian Cage’s Huge AEW All In Win

Christian Cage AEW All In

Christian Cage may have had a mixed night at AEW All In but he had the last laugh with an AEW World Championship shot in his future.

All In kicked off with a huge four-team ladder match for the AEW Trios Title as The Patriarchy put the gold on the line against House of Black, The Bang Bang Gang, and PAC, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta. Ultimately it was the makeshift team of Newcastle’s finest and his Blackpool Combat Club partners that picked up the win meaning a bad start to the night for Christian Cage.

However, it was not all bad for Cage as he featured in the Casino Gauntlet match later in the evening and had a fortunate draw number as he was followed immediately by Killswitch. However, Cage’s lackey was introduced by his former name of Luchasaurus and it looked like the long-awaited split was on its way. But that was not to be.

Killswitch dropped Kyle O’Reilly with a huge chokeslam and stood by as Christian Cage picked up the win guaranteeing himself a shot at the AEW World Championship. Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Title in All In’s main event and it surely won’t have escaped Cage’s attention that he won the gold with his two children watching on close by.

Christian Cage’s win came as a surprise to many as ex-WWE star Ricochet made his debut during the match and AEW announcer Nigel McGuinness also made a shock appearance as a win could have set up a long-speculated on match with Bryan Danielson.

Christian Cage’s Big All In Win Overdue

Now speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has revealed why Cage won the match and it was all to do with England’s own Will Ospreay winning a gauntlet match to claim a title shot at Forbidden Door:

Remember the one that Ospreay won? Christian was supposed to win that one.

It remains to be seen when Christian Cage will get his title shot but Darby Allin also holds a guaranteed shot at the AEW World Title after Allin won a Royal Rampage match in July.
