Real Reason Andrade Was Released By WWE
The real reason behind Andrade’s surprising release by WWE has been revealed.
On September 13, it was reported that Andrade had abruptly left WWE after being moved to the alumni section on the company’s website.
As noted in the hours after his exit was confirmed, the star’s departure wasn’t mutual, and it’s believed that he hadn’t requested his release. Instead, the company had decided to let him go. This was followed by a report that suggested Andrade had clashed with WWE over creative as far back as his return to the company in January 2024.
Andrade initially signed with WWE in 2015 and went on to become NXT Champion. However, he grew increasingly frustrated and requested his release in 2021. Although that request was initially denied, he was ultimately let go.
That June, the star signed with AEW but left in late 2023 to make his way back to WWE, which was now under the creative guidance of Triple H.
Andrade Left WWE Due To Disciplinary Issues
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer added more context to the news, reporting there were disciplinary problems behind the scenes.
“I don’t know the whole story, but I do know it was a discipline thing. It was not his doing at all. You know, it wasn’t like, ‘oh, he’s not being used well, so he’s unhappy.’ I’m positive he’s unhappy, but it wasn’t him asking out.”
Meltzer went on to reveal that Andrade’s disciplinary issues saw him sent home in the weeks before he eventually left the company. He added that someone being removed from the road is uncommon in 2025.
“What happened was a couple of weeks ago, um, it is actually a story from a couple of weeks ago that just broke today. I mean, he wasn’t fired until today, but a couple of weeks ago, there was a disciplinary thing, and all I know is it was at a TV shoot, and he was told to go home, and he’s not been used since.
And when he was sent home, you don’t hear guys being sent home that often anymore, like you did back in the day… the feeling when he got sent home was that it must be serious because you don’t hear about that.”
Meltzer also denied that the star’s exit was due to alcohol or drug-related reasons, and also had nothing to do with his relationship with his ex-wife, Charlotte Flair.
The news of his departure from WWE immediately sparked speculation that he could head back to AEW, especially in light of the company’s relationship with CMLL. According to one report on the rumours, the AEW door isn’t closed for Andrade, even though he left on “less than ideal terms.”
