Hulk Hogan’s wrestling promotion has issued a statement.

On July 24, Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Hogan, who had been dealing with a variety of health problems for several years, suffered a cardiac arrest.

Hogan had a huge impact on the world of professional wrestling, helping take the WWF and Vince McMahon to remarkable heights in the 1980s. This was followed by a major reinvention in 1996 where he created the nWo alongside Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

After returning to WWE in 2002, Hogan clashed with The Rock at WrestleMania X8 in a match many regard as the greatest WrestleMania bout in history.

Hulk Hogan’s Wrestling Promotion To Continue

Back in May, Hogan and Eric Bischoff announced the launch of Real American Freestyle Wrestling. The duo subsequently announced they would be working with MMA veteran and highly-regarded coach Izzy Martinez.

The promotion is set to hold its inaugural event on August 30.

In a statement released to the media, Real American Freestyle confirmed that the promotion will push ahead with plans for its first-ever event. The promotion was described as part of Hogan’s legacy and a project that intends to honor it.

Today we lost our Commissioner. We lost a friend. And the sport of wrestling lost one of its greatest champions, not just in the ring, but in spirit.

Hulk Hogan believed wrestling was more than just entertainment. He saw it as a brotherhood, a proving ground and a platform for greatness. That’s what Real American Freestyle was built to be, a new stage for the toughest, most passionate athletes on Earth. And Hulk was at the center of it.

From day one, he threw his weight behind this league. He met with athletes. He watched tape, shared stories and showed up like only he could.

RAF was personal to him, something bigger than all of us. This league is part of his legacy, and we intend to honor it.

In the hours after the news of his passing broke, tributes to Hulk Hogan have poured in with WWE legends, Hall of Famers, and even U.S. President Donald Trump sharing their memories.
