Backstage Reaction To AEW Dynamite Ratings Revealed

MJF on AEW Dynamite

The latest Dynamite ratings could be a massive long-term boost for AEW.

On July 10th, AEW celebrated the 250th episode of Dynamite with a monster show from Little Rock, Arkansas.

In the opening match, Will Ospreay put the International Title on the line against MJF in a match that went just two seconds short of an hour. When all was said and done, MJF emerged with the victory after what many fans called the greatest TV match in AEW history.

Meanwhile, the episode scored the highest viewing figures for the show in three months, with an average of 795,000 viewers turning it. This made July 10th the highest-rated show since April 10th.

AEW Dynamite Ratings Give Boost To Media Talks

After discussing Warner Bros Discovery’s negotiations with the NBA, and hints at expansion in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer commented on how these might impact AEW and their media rights negotiations. Meltzer cited one insider with knowledge of the talks between WBD and AEW who said the improved rating for Dynamite was “awesome timing.”

I think things are close as one person with inside knowledge of the talks used the term “awesome timing” to describe the Dynamite rating on 7/17, so things are thought to be close.

Although the details are unclear, Tony Khan has remained adamant that a deal with WBD will be finalised. In late June it was reported a deal would be signed “imminently,” seemingly backing up speculation that an announcement is close.
