A WWE star is now a free agent.

On June 8th it was reported that Ricochet was planning to leave WWE when his contract expires, and he had informed the company of his decision. He was subsequently written off television, and the rumour mill went into overdrive.

The news came after AEW’s Will Ospreay spoke of his frustration at how Ricochet was being used in WWE. Ospreay said it was “appalling” that the star was being used on the company’s Speed show on X when he’s one of the greatest high-flyers in the world.

On the eve of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Ospreay again talked up Ricochet, admitting he’d love to face him in AEW. And it seems he may well get his wish.

Ricochet Leaves WWE

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Ricochet’s WWE deal expired at midnight on July 1st, and he’s now officially a free agent. Just hours earlier he’d been moved to the alumni section on the company website.

The expectation remains that Ricochet will now sign with AEW, although he isn’t currently scheduled to face Will Ospreay at All In. He was also prevented from appearing at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as he was still technically under contract when the show went on the air.

Ricochet was written off Monday Night Raw on June 10th following an attack by Bron Breakker. The high-flyer joined the sports entertainment giant in 2018 after earning a reputation as one of the most exciting wrestlers in the world during spells with Dragon Gate, NJPW, PWG, and Lucha Underground.

Samantha Irvin will remain with WWE.
