Randy Orton Requested To Work With 4-Time WWE Champion He Initially Disliked

Randy Orton is one of the most popular stars in the pro wrestling industry and has worked with numerous stars throughout his WWE career.

Recently, The Viper paired up with Jelly Roll to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2025.

Orton and Roll suffered a defeat, but this was the first time a celebrity had lost a match at The Biggest Party of the Summer!

Matt Riddle explains how he started working with Randy Orton

Ahead of his release in 2023, The Original Bro worked in a tag team with Orton named RK-Bro. They were quite the popular team, and fans were quite impressed with the Orton’s stern character paired with Riddle’s goofy character.

While speaking to Inside The Ring, the former WWE Superstar revealed that The Apex Predator wasn’t fond of Riddle at first, but after working with him, Randy Orton himself asked to be in a working storyline with Matt Riddle.

I’ll say this, me and Randy are tight, you know. I’ll say this before I actually wrestled Randy, uh, he was not a fan of me, you know, and then once we got in the ring and worked together, I mean, he came right to the back and told Vince, told everybody, I want to work with this kid as much as possible. He’s am

azing in the ring. And this is also when he was going, he was dealing with the amount of pain he was dealing with with his back. So, I felt like that really opened his eyes up to me. And then the more we hung out, the more we talked, the more, just the more he got a feel for me, we really, you know, I would say we kind of fell for each other. Like, I was always a huge Randy Orton fan. I don’t think he was a huge fan of me, but then he’s a huge fan of legitimacy. He’s the fan that I can actually fight and defend myself.

I think he’s also a fan that I don’t have an ego. And I knew my place on the team. And my place was to get us to this point, make sure Randy to get to that point, and do the best and tell the best stories possible. And honestly, I’d make sure usually, before Randy would even get to work, I’d have the match called, and he would get there. He’d be like, “What are we doing?” And I’d tell him and I go, “If there’s anything you want to change and and we’d go over it, if there’s anything you want to change,” he would. But we had a really good working relationship in that sense.

Currently, Riddle is working in the independent scene and is enjoying his time in the new environment.
