Randy Orton Set To Break Major WWE Record At SummerSlam
Randy Orton will enter the history books at SummerSlam in August.
“The Viper” made his SummerSlam debut in 2003 as a member of the Evolution stable.
He competed in an Elimination Chamber match against Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, and Chris Jericho. Orton was eliminated by Goldberg before his stablemate Triple H snatched up the win.
Since then, he has wrestled in 15 more matches at ‘the Biggest Party of the Summer,’ bringing his tally to 16, which is the same as the Undertaker’s.
His upcoming match at the PLE will be his 17th, breaking the record he has held with the Deadman.
The 38th edition of SummerSlam will be a two-nighter, a first for this promotional event.
Randy Orton will be involved in a tag team match partnering singer Jelly Roll. Their opponents are Drew McIntyre and YouTube star Logan Paul.
WWE has built the rivalry over the last few weeks. More recently, Jelly Roll hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where Randy Orton was the special guest.
The segment witnessed interference by McIntyre and Paul. While Orton and McIntyre brawled away from the screen, viewers witnessed Jelly Roll chokeslam Paul through the host’s table.
Randy Orton Became The Youngest WWE World Champion At SummerSlam
To date, Randy Orton holds the record for becoming the youngest WWE World Champion. He achieved this feat when he was 24.
He was featured in a match at the 2004 SummerSlam against Chris Benoit for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The match earned high praise from critics and the audience alike. Unfortunately, Orton was betrayed by Evolution soon after, turning him into a babyface for the first time.
