Randy Orton Praised AEW Stars For Rampage Match
Even Randy Orton couldn’t help but indulge himself in a recent AEW Rampage contest, praising those involved for bringing back “what’s missing” in modern wrestling!
Claudio Castagnoli’s recent defence of the ROH World Championship vs. Dax Harwood on the 9 September broadcast of Rampage was well-received, with ‘The Swiss Superman’ ultimately retaining the championship. The match was praised, specifically, for the selling involved.
According to Harwood, he and Claudio were messaged by Randy Orton, singing their praises on how good the contest was. The former Scott Dawson revealed ‘The Viper’s’ message during his and Cash Wheeler’s appearance on MackMania:
“It might get him in trouble, but whatever. After my match with Claudio, Randy Orton texts me and Claudio and could not stop talking about how great the match was, and selling and what’s missing in wrestling. He said that match is what’s missing. Yeah man, I love getting accolades and I love fans caring about us and loving us and ranking us high. But when my peers and the people I look up to are the ones who give us the accolades, that’s pretty cool.”
Dax elaborated, stating that he wrestles to make people, especially his peers, feel something, rather than competing for the latest five-star rating:
“At the end of the day, man, I’ve never, same with Cash, have never, ever constructed a match saying, ‘Oh, this has gotta be a five-star match. We’ve gotta make this a five-star match.’ I don’t give one single solitary sh*t about any one man or woman’s opinion. I care about the masse, and if I can make the people feel a certain way, man, that’s the shit that we live for.”
The match marked Dax Harwood’s first attempt at a singles World Championship. He does, however, currently hold the IWGP, AAA, and ROH World Tag Team Championships alongside Cash Wheeler in FTR.
