Randy Orton May Have Buried Top RAW Star In WWE
Randy Orton allegedly buried Kofi Kingston in WWE.
Kingston got involved in a feud with Orton in 2009 and 2010. It was a defining moment in Kingston’s career, but it also involved behind-the-scenes tension that negatively impacted his WWE push.
During a match on Raw in January 2010, The Viper angrily yelled “stupid” at Kofi after Kofi reportedly botched a planned spot involving an RKO and punt kick. Orton was visibly upset both in the ring and backstage, showing real-life frustration.
This moment is widely seen as the start of Orton burying Kofi in WWE. Kofi was reportedly on track for a big push, but after the incident with Orton, his momentum was significantly stalled.
Randy Orton Helped Kofi Kingston By Burying Him In WWE
Former WWE star Stevie Richards recently shared his opinion on Randy Orton allegedly using backstage influence to halt Kofi’s rising push within WWE.
He stated that if that is actually true, then The Apex Predator did Kofi a huge favor because burying him early in his career later helped him to shine brighter in WWE
“Well, temporarily… He [Kofi Kingston] definitely got way more over with The New Day. So, he might’ve been doing him a favor.
He might not have been experienced enough or ready enough for a top spot at the time. So, he got his little receipt on Randy live that they both laughed about. I’m sure.
Despite the heat from that period, Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton managed to work together professionally in later years, including a renewed feud in 2019, where respect was publicly shown.
Kofi is currently part of The New Day with Xavier Woods on the WWE RAW brand. The duo has been chasing the tag team gold for a while.
On the upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW, they’ll get a huge opportunity to challenge AJ Styles and Dragon Lee for the World Tag Team Championship.
