Questions Remain In WWE Regarding Seth Rollins Injury Status

Seth Rollins WWE Smackdown promo

A new report about Seth Rollins suggests people within WWE are “very cloudy” about the severity of his knee injury.

One of the big matches at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta saw LA Knight finally get his hands on “Mr. Money in the Bank” Seth Rollins in a singles match.

As the match progressed, Rollins did a springboard senton splash onto Knight where it looked like Seth’s right knee bent awkwardly as he got up. Rollins went to the ropes again, jumped off with a moonsault, Knight moved, and Rollins landed on his feet. After landing on his feet, Rollins grabbed his right knee and fell backwards.

After the moonsault spot, Seth Rollins sat up against the turnbuckle, spoke to his “Oracle” Paul Heyman, the referee, and the WWE doctor. At that point, Rollins got up, Knight kicked him in the gut, and Knight hit a BFT for the win. It was later reported that Rollins was supposed to win the match, but the outcome was changed due to his injury.

Since the injury happened, there have been reports claiming that Rollins isn’t hurt that seriously, but he has some injury, so WWE did an angle to make it look worse than it was. This way, it will allow Rollins to “miraculously” recover a lot quicker and cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase to become the World Heavyweight Champion or WWE Champion at some point in the future.

Rollins did not appear on Monday’s edition of WWE Raw, but he did guest host The Rich Eisen Show, a sports talk show, and spoke about his injury on Wednesday.

“I was in a match with LA Knight, and I hurt my knee. I was doing a move I do all the time, a moonsault, and I landed on my feet. When I landed, I felt my knee kind of pop and buckle. We got out of the match and move forward.

Monday, I was in Birmingham, Alabama, where our specialist is. We tried to take a look at the knee. There was some imaging; it was a little too swollen, so we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two here in LA. Try to get some sort of firm diagnosis, and we can go from there.

I am not a doctor, I only know my body and what I feel. What I feel is that this is going to be me out for an extended period of time. This isn’t the first time I’ve been injured; it won’t be the last time. I’ve always got WrestleMania in the back of my mind. Can I make it back for WrestleMania season? I feel good about that.

Beyond a firm timeline, I just won’t know until we receive a clearer answer from the MRI. That’s where it’s at.”

Seth Rollins gave the “we need to do more testing” response about the injury, which could be seen as adding credibility to the theory that he is not seriously hurt. For example, if an NFL or NBA player tears their ACL (like Rollins did ten years ago) then it’s usually confirmed within a day or two. It’s been nearly a full week since the Rollins situation, with no specific injury mentioned.

WWE Personnel Not Sure About Seth Rollins’ Injury Status

A new report from Fightful Select claims that the Seth Rollins injury situation remains “very cloudy” even within WWE. Staff was led to believe that Rollins was legitimately hurt. However, they add that “producers, talent and a number of staff are being told that Rollins’ injury is legitimate, but there isn’t a real solid detail on how long he could be out.”

It’s believed within WWE that Seth Rollins is dealing with an injury, but the exact nature of the injury, when it was sustained, and whether the spot at Saturday Night’s Main Event was a work (aka storyline) are unknown.

At the WWE Evolution PLE on Sunday night, one day after Saturday Night’s Main Event, Seth Rollins was backstage on crutches supporting his wife, Becky Lynch, who had a great match to open the show.

Fightful adds that there is “internal skepticism on the severity of the injury” while many producers and backstage staff are not being clued in if the Rollins situation is a work. There’s a belief within WWE that people who know about the Rollins situation are keeping quiet.

A WWE Producer contacted Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp to say that it’s a possible “Machiavelli situation,” which is a reference to a deceptive situation. That’s what pro wrestling is after all, since they are trying to hide things from the audience, and in this case, WWE may be wanting to hide the Rollins injury from people in their own company.

Ultimately, it’s up to each person to decide if it’s a work or a legit situation for Seth Rollins. Time will tell if he reappears soon to cash in Money in the Bank when many fans don’t expect it. Rollins is “The Architect,” who is known for outsmarting everybody, after all.
