Promoter Denies WWE Is Trying To Purchase Company

Triple H WWE

WWE won’t be buying another US-based promotion.

Since Vince McMahon left WWE, the company’s approach to working with other promotions has shifted dramatically.

This has seen the sports entertainment giant send talent to Pro Wrestling NOAH and Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, as well as several other independent promotions. This is without discussing the company’s working relationship with TNA, which currently sees NXT star Trick Williams hold the TNA World Championship.

During WrestleMania weekend, it was announced that WWE had acquired AAA, again, hinting that it was looking to expand.

This brought the NWA into the conversation after Natalya challenged Kenzie Paige for the NWA Women’s World Championship back in May.

Billy Corgan Issues WWE Denial

Billy Corgan and Natalya recently appeared on Busted Open Radio, and the latter expressed her desire to wrestle Paige one more time. This sparked a conversation about the NWA and WWE working in tandem in the future.

Corgan went on to explain that while the two companies are clearly open to working together, that doesn’t mean WWE is looking to purchase the NWA. The Smashing Pumpkins star remained adamant that his promotion wasn’t for sale.

“The WWE endorsement, if you even wanna call it that — let’s call it a blessing — shows you that we’ve earned our spot in this game here. We’re not competition by any stretch of the imagination but we are a player now and the other thing I wanna add really quickly is we’re not for sale.

A lot of people assumed that the minute that door opened with Nattie, that that night we were gonna be sold. We’re not for sale and WWE has not asked.”

Away from the NWA, it’s been reported that WWE is planning to join Natalya and Maxxine Dupri together as a permanent tag team. The pair will reportedly be known as the Dungeon Dolls moving forward.
