Cody Rhodes put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against John Cena at WrestleMania 41, and attempted to retain it. Unfortunately, The American Nightmare was unsuccessful, and The Champ secured the world record 17th World Champion in WWE.
Since then, the former Undisputed WWE Champion has not been seen on WWE TV, and fans began to wonder about his absence. Ideally, the fandom expected a rematch between the stalwarts at Backlash 2025, but Randy Orton emerged as the challenger for the premium live event.
It seems that the mystery around Rhodes’ absence has been resolved. WWE Legend Diamond Dallas page shared a photograph on his social media which showed a jacked Cody Rhodes.
The American Nightmare was lifting weights at DDP’s fitness gym, clearing the air that he has not been idle during his absence on WWE TV. Fans can expect the 39-year-old to return to television sooner than later!

Coming to Cody Rhodes, it seems that the wrestling juggernaut has planned a return for him at Money in the Bank 2025. The discussion about the former champion on Wrestling Votes Q&A led to the revelation about Rhodes’ return plans.
WWE did have creative angles in place for The American Nightmare’s return at Backlash, but the plans did not work through as pitched.
