Popular WWE Champion Injured During Live Event In Mexico
A popular WWE Champion has reportedly suffered a legitimate shoulder injury.
On December 20, Dominik Mysterio was featured in the main event of AAA Guerra de Titanes in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he teamed up with El Grande Americano against his father, Rey Mysterio, and Rey Fenix.
The match originally included Penta, who was replaced last-minute by the WWE Hall of Famer after not fully recovering in time due to an injury he had suffered on the November 24 episode of RAW.
Despite not competing, the Mexican luchador made his presence felt at the ringside, attacking Dominik before his father hit him with a 619 and a splash for the victory.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer revealed that the 28-year-old suffered an injury during the closing minutes after taking a DDT from his father. “Dirty” Dom immediately exited the ring, barely moving his arm.
Dom injured his shoulder taking the DDT from his dad near the end of tonight’s main event. Based on how he landed, my presumption is it’s likely a shoulder separation, which depending on the severity could be a short-term injury, or worst case scenario surgery. But we won’t know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all. [H/T: Ringside News]
WWE Yet To Confirm Dominik Mysterio’s Injury
WWE has yet to confirm the extent of Dominik Mysterio’s injury.
If Bryan Alvarez is correct, the Intercontinental Champion may require surgery that could keep him out of action for the foreseeable future, including the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.
Mysterio is now the second Judgment Day member injured after JD McDonagh.
Sharing a post on social media, the Irish superstar confirmed his injury, while revealing that he will be on the sidelines temporarily. Mysterio, too, confirmed the unfortunate news during a segment on the latest episode of RAW.
