An AEW star has changed the game.

Since becoming Timeless, Toni Storm has enjoyed the most successful and box-office run of her career.

During this period, Storm has won the AEW Women’s World Championship twice, becoming the first woman to hold the title on four occasions. The record-breaking win came at Grand Slam Australia, where she defeated her one-time friend and long-time rival Mariah May.

On the latest episode of the What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone heaped praise on Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm, suggesting that the latter has redefined women’s wrestling within the company.

“She’s redefined women’s wrestling for AEW…We are very fortunate to have two professionals… Toni Storm, Mercedes Moné, just so great to work with both of them. I had not worked with Mercedes at all, and I didn’t know what to expect, because I knew she was Sasha Banks, but, man, I just absolutely love her. And Toni Storm is just so, so entertaining.”

Toni Storm Has Done Big Business For AEW

Continuing on, Schiavone said AEW boss Tony Khan should be proud of the character he created, while pointing out how important it is to find the right performer to bring an idea to life.

“Tony Khan is going to be very, very proud of… this character that he came up with, and it’s… just doing gangbusters business… And not only that great character that he developed, but Toni Storm has bought into it, as they say, fully. You gotta have to be [the right] person to be able to do it, and she’s the person.”

“Timeless” Toni Storm will be back in action on the May 7 edition of Dynamite in a Four-Way Women’s World Championship Eliminator. In the match, Storm will face Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford, and Anna Jay.

Mercedes Mone is scheduled to be back in action at Double or Nothing on May 25. At the event, Mone will meet Jamie Hayter in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup. The winner will then challenge for the Women’s World Championship at All In Texas.
