Another Popular AEW Star Expected To Join WWE
Another AEW star could be looking at the exit.
Ricky Starks hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Big Bill to take on Top Flight on the March 30th edition of Collision. At the time there were rumours Starks had suffered an injury, but he’s repeatedly denied that this is the case.
It’s been reported that Starks turned down an angle involving Bill and he’s been kept off television since.
Although Tony Khan has claimed in interviews that he’d like to use the star, elsewhere, Ricky Starks expressed frustration with his situation, admitting he has “no clue” when he’ll be called upon again.
Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that within the industry, Starks is expected to join WWE.
Ricky Starks who hasn’t been used, also fits into the category as he’s very much within wrestling expected to go to WWE when his deal is up. He hasn’t signed a new deal and he turned down an angle for Big Bill to turn on him where he’d be a babyface and now be used anymore.
More Stars Closing On AEW Exit
Aside from the speculation around Starks, it’s been reported that the Lucha Brothers have already received an offer from WWE after making it clear they want to leave AEW.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo have been All Elite since 2019, but it seems it’s time for a change. The real-life brothers are said to be working on joining WWE as a “package deal,” BUT they have no interest in working in NXT.
To add fuel to the fire, Fenix has pulled out of an independent date in late September. Importantly, this is after his AEW contract expires.
In more positive news for Tony Khan, it’s believed Bobby Lashley will become a free agent in the coming days as he lets his WWE contract expire. Those close to the former World Champion expect him to at least make an appearance in AEW although no offer has been made.
