Popular AEW Star Considered For World Title Run

Tony Khan AEW

AEW could soon crown a first-time World Champion.

After signing with AEW, Darby Allin quickly established himself as one of the company’s most popular wrestlers. This rise has seen him clash with the likes of CM Punk, MJF, Christian Cage, and more, as well as playing a major role in Sting’s retirement run.

However, the face-painted star has never won the World Championship. But that could be about to change.

On the July 26th episode of Rampage, Darby Allin won a huge Battle Royal to earn another shot at the World Title at Grand Slam. Furthermore, it seems Allin might be in line to win.

Darby Allin Considered For AEW World Title Win

At All In, Allin will challenge Jack Perry for the TNT Championship, and although fans would love to see him claim the gold for a third time, a defeat could signal a move to bigger and better things.

Working on the idea that Bryan Danielson will defeat Swerve Strickland and become World Champion at All In, it’s been suggested that Allin could be the man to go on and beat him. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noted there’s been talk of Allin winning the World Title no matter who holds the championship after All In.

If Perry does win, it wouldn’t shock me to see Allin win at Shea [means Arthur Ashe], even though that does feel too early and to me having Danielson lose that quick cheapens “the moment” if he does win. Nobody expects a long title run from Danielson, but for one month feels too short. We’ve heard talk of Allin getting a run as champion no matter who wins.

Allin last challenged for the World Title at Double or Nothing 2023 in a four-way match also featuring MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Jack Perry.
