Possible Plans For WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Revealed
Following Sasha Banks and Naomi being stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, potential plans for the future of the titles have been revealed.
On the May 16th edition of Raw, Sasha Banks and Naomi were scheduled to take part in a Six-Pack Challenge match to determine the Number One Contender for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship.
However, as the show went on the air, Banks and Naomi handed their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship belts to Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis and walked out of the building.
On the following episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole confirmed the situation and announced that the pair had been stripped of their titles and that a tournament would be held to crown new champions.
Now, a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that the WWE creative team has made at least two pitches which include a four-team tournament. It is claimed that the teams involved would be Natalya & Shayna Baszler, Tamina & Dana Brooke, Nikki A.S.H & Doudrop, and Carmella & Queen Zelina.
Carmella and Queen Zelina were the champions going into WrestleMania 38, but split up soon after they lost the belts to Banks and Naomi at the event. Since then, Baszler and Natalya have been a regular team while Nikki A.S.H and Doudrop recently faced Sasha Banks and Naomi on Raw in a losing effort.
