Plans For Major UK WWE Event Now In Doubt
WWE’s rumoured return to the UK in 2025 might be off the table.
It was recently reported that WWE could be taking Elimination Chamber to the UK in 2025. The event was held in Australia in 2024 and there seems to be a desire to keep it on the road going forward. Although details remain thin on the ground, it was noted the show could be held in Birmingham or Manchester.
Back in July, it was revealed that Triple H and Nick Khan had held talks with the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan about taking WrestleMania to the city. While the company has a long history with events in the UK, things kicked into another gear with the creation of Clash at the Castle in 2022.
However, it seems WWE’s next stop in the UK seems more uncertain than previously thought.
According to a new report on WrestleVotes Radio via SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, Elimination Chamber 2025 could take place in Canada.
Joey Votes: “Elimination Chamber, we have an update on that. You know, we were told last week it is coming to the UK, and while that still may be the case, we can tell you that along with Birmingham and Manchester, London is now on the board with the O2 Arena as a possible location. The show is to be arena-sized and not stadium-based.
However, we are told our source did reach out after we put this on WrestleVotes Radio last week that other countries have certainly inquired, and there is significant interest in the show being held in Canada as well. So with that said, I would say the United Kingdom is definitely still the favorite. However, to be determined, as Canada has jumped in in the kind of last minute here.”
WrestleVotes: “Well, speaking of Elimination Chamber specifically, I would say that Canada is in the mix. And I think Toronto would be the front runner of that. So I think what they’re doing here is working. They’re creating a market where they have a product that places want to be held in their area.
So you have word go out last week that Manchester and the UK are in the mix for the Elimination Chamber. And I think that helps other municipalities pick up the phone and make a phone call and say, ‘Hey, we would love to have the Elimination Chamber held in our city here.’ So these are all great things working.”
WWE Linked With Return To Japan
During the same episode, it was noted that there was a push backstage to take WWE back to Japan. In July, WWE returned to Japan for the first time since 2019 for a run of three live events featuring many of the company’s biggest stars.
The short tour was well received by both fans and wrestlers, with a return now a distinct responsibility.
