Pitches Made For Return Of Absent AEW Star
AEW creative is preparing for a star’s return.
Sammy Guevara hasn’t been seen on AEW television since February, but that could all be about to change.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the star’s suspension is now over. Guevara has proven a controversial figure since joining AEW in 2019, having already served one suspension by the time of his latest infraction, and previously getting into it backstage with Eddie Kingston.
Sammy Guevara is no longer suspended but there’s no word on when he’ll be cycled back into storylines. There has been stuff pitched but nothing confirmed.
Why Did AEW Suspend Sammy Guevara?
At the February 14th taping for AEW Rampage, Jeff Hardy suffered a broken nose during a No Disqualification with Sammy Guevara. During the match, there was also a concern that Hardy suffered a concussion, but despite this, concussion protocol wasn’t followed and the Spanish God hit the veteran with his finish.
The incident led to Sammy Guevara being suspended.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Chuck Taylor will never wrestle again after suffering a serious ankle injury. Meltzer has confirmed the injury and talk of retirement isn’t linked to a storyline, and Taylor is expected to retire as an in-ring performer.
