Pitch Made For In-Ring Return Of William Regal
William Regal has been offered the chance to get back in the ring.
Since retiring from in-ring competition in November 2013, William Regal has become one of the most important backstage figures in WWE either side of a year-long spell with AEW.
In his former role as Head of Global Recruiting, Regal is widely credited with signing the likes of Mercedes Mone, Asuka, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and more. Since returning to WWE in January 2023, Regal has become Vice President of Global Talent Development, as well as making on-screen appearances.
Although he’s shown little inclination to get back in the ring, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had offers.
Josh Barnett Extends Offer To William Regal
During an appearance on Ringsiders Wrestling, Bloodsport’s Josh Barnett revealed he’s offered Regal the chance to compete if he feels fit and well enough. Barnett added that the ball is in Regal’s court but he won’t press him if he wants to stay watching the action from ringside.
“You think I haven’t had some conversations with William Regal about, ‘If you should feel spry. You know…
I say the ball is in his court, not as like a challenge or anything like that. It’s just, he’s the boss here. If he tells me it’s time, done. If he says, ‘Eh, I’m better off spectating.’ Done. Whatever he wants, he’s correct. That’s the way I see it,”
Regal’s son Charlie Dempsey has competed at several Bloodsport events in the past and he’s set to feature at Bloodsport XIII during WrestleMania week. Dempsey will be joined by fellow WWE stars Karmen Petrovic, Pete Dunne, Karrion Kross, and Natalya who will be making her debut for the promotion.
