People Within AEW Furious With Rising Star

AEW Tony Khan Media Scrum

An AEW star’s recent match hasn’t gone down well backstage.

After the Don Callis Family defeated Paragon at Double or Nothing, Kyle Fletcher challenged Adam Cole for the TNT Championship on the May 28 edition of Dynamite.

The match ultimately ended in a disqualification after Josh Alexander ran to the ring and attacked the champion. As Fletcher and Alexander continued the assault on Cole, Brody King ran to the ring with a chair. The segment quickly moved into an already announced International Championship qualifier match between Alexander and King.

However, much of the focus after the show was on a nasty incident between Cole and Fletcher. During their match, Fletcher looked to hit Cole with a Powerbomb on the apron, but he was too far away, and Cole’s head barely missed the edge of the ring as he crashed to the floor.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that there are a “lot of people” who were furious with Fletcher following the botch. Despite the scary-looking incident, Cole is believed to be fine.

“I can tell you today, I’m sure I’ll hear about this all afternoon, but there were a lot of people furious at Kyle Fletcher, because like at the end of the day whatever you want to do is whatever you guys agree to do and everything like that, but Adam Cole has had a history of head injuries. He’s had concussions. He’s had concussions and head injuries we know about and he’s had concussions and head injuries that hasn’t been public.

There have been other times where Adam Cole hasn’t been on television because he had a head injury and it just never came out.

So like you have to be careful, not just with Adam Cole but with anybody, with anybody’s head. There were a lot of people very unhappy with Kyle Fletcher because like what was this dude thinking? What was he thinking? I don’t have an answer.”

AEW Stars Unhappy With Pay-Per-Views

Following Double or Nothing, it was reported that many people within AEW are unhappy with the length of pay-per-views. Including the pre-show, the company’s latest event clocked in at over six hours, and fans have been commenting for years that this is simply too long.

According to the report, several stars agree, but Tony Khan has no desire to make any changes.
