Backstage Update On Penta’s Injury After Cancelled WWE RAW Match
Penta seemingly suffered an injury on WWE RAW.
On the November 24 edition of Monday Night RAW, Penta had a match against Solo Sikoa. During one point in the match, he attempted a hurricanrana on Sikoa from the ringside barricade, but he landed hard on his left shoulder after an awkward rotation.
WWE’s medical staff immediately checked on him, and the match was called off. As a result, Solo Sikoa advanced in the “Last Time Is Now” tournament.
Fans were concerned as Penta’s injury looked serious and legitimate. However, the fans need not worry anymore because the luchador is not injured.
Penta Is Not Injured
Fightful Wrestling’s Sean Ross Sapp recently provided an update on Penta’s condition on a post-Raw Review episode.
He stated that people backstage reported that the 40-year-old star is fine. WWE called off the match only as a precaution, and the Mexican star is not injured.
“Now, this one ain’t WWE’s fault, man. This one isn’t anybody’s fault. Things seemed okay with him as he went through the curtain based on people I talked to.”
“The match had to be stopped. They went to a commercial and then had to stop the match because Penta took a spill. Didn’t look great, and wisely and fortunately it was called to a stop.” [H/T Ringside News]
On this week’s RAW show, Gunther defeated Carmelo Hayes in a quarterfinal match to earn his spot in the semifinals of the Last Time Is Now Tournament.
On the November 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Jey Uso will take on Rusev, and LA Knight will take on The Miz in the quarterfinals.
Last week’s WWE SmackDown taping in Denver held two taping sessions due to the US Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 27th. According to a spoiler report, Knight and Uso are set to advance into the semi-finals.
The winner of the tournament will decide who will face John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington, DC.
