Penta Not Interested In Comparisons To WWE Hall Of Famer

WWE Penta

Penta is flattered by comparisons to a legendary WWE Hall of Famer, but he is focused on carving out his legacy.

After being a pro wrestler for the past 20 years, former AEW Tag Team Champion and TNA World Champion Penta became a WWE superstar this year.

In his first match on Raw against Chad Gable on January 13th, Penta impressed the WWE Universe while doing an emotional promo about how much he loved being a pro wrestler. One week later, he beat Pete Dunne as well.

Next up for Penta is his first WWE Royal Rumble match on February 1st in Indianapolis.

Penta Shows Respect To Rey Mysterio

One wrestler that wrestling fans bring up a lot when it comes to Penta is WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. That’s because Rey is considered by many people to be the greatest luchador of all time and somebody who a lot of luchadors look up to.

During an interview with Busted Open Radio, Penta was asked about Rey and made it clear he loves Rey, but he wants to build his own legacy in WWE and isn’t looking to be the next Rey. It also led to a warning if the two men have a confrontation in the Royal Rumble match.

“I want to say something. I don’t want to be the next Rey Mysterio. I want to be the first Penta El Zero Miedo in WWE. I love Rey. Never disliked Rey. For this reason, I want to be the first Penta. If Rey crosses my way in the ring, sorry Rey, but this is my time. Because I love Rey, but I love myself more.”

As for his WWE future, there have been reports that the company has “big plans” for Penta regarding his first WrestleMania appearance at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. What that means exactly is yet to be determined, but as we head on the road to WrestleMania, it sounds like the Mexican star will be utilized a lot moving forward.
