Paul Heyman’s Emotional Confession: “There Are Things I’ll Take To My Grave”

Paul Heyman on WWE SmackDown

Paul Heyman admits there are things he’ll take to his grave that his children won’t even know about.

The latest guest on Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast was WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman, who shared many interesting stories with Stephanie during their 2+ hour discussion covering a wide range of subjects.

There were even times during the interview when Heyman and McMahon got emotional as they talked about the ups and downs of their friendship over the last 20+ years.

When talking about his personal relationships with people in the wrestling business, Paul Heyman admitted some things had happened that he’ll take to his grave without telling his two children (a son and a daughter). It was Heyman’s way of saying that if someone he trusts shares something personal with him, Heyman will never betray that person’s trust.

“For a person who, admittedly, will have a reputation for being untrustworthy, there are things that I will take to my grave about a lot of different people that my own children don’t know.

That’s the intimacy that I will have with people that I work with. And if you give me that vulnerability, I’ll never betray it. And we will have a personal satisfaction, and professional satisfaction, of achieving greatness together that two other people can’t match.”

Paul Heyman Joked With Roman Reigns At WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

On WWE SmackDown in Albany, the “Oracle” Paul Heyman welcomed Drew McIntyre to The Vision’s WarGames team. McIntyre will join Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul against CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and one more partner. The rumored partner on Heyman’s team is Brock Lesnar, while Roman Reigns is rumored to be on Punk’s team.

While Heyman is a rival of Reigns these days, nobody can ignore the successful four years they spent as part of The Bloodline. During Roman’s run as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for 1,316 days, Heyman was by Reigns’ side the entire time until Reigns lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 in 2024.

During the Wise Man’s WWE Hall of Fame induction, Roman Reigns did the induction speech, so Paul Heyman told Stephanie McMahon what Reigns said to him, and how Heyman responded.

“The whole thing was really weird because, number one, I’m better at improv. I never try to memorize anything. I didn’t want to memorize anything. I wanted the whole thing from the heart. But I knew the first part would be completely out of character.

And when I went out there and I hugged Roman, and Roman says to me, ‘I can’t wait to hear this.’ And he’s walking away and I’m thinking to myself, ‘Man, are you going to be disappointed.’” (Laughs)

It was a comical statement from Heyman because he, unsurprisingly, went on to deliver one of the best Hall of Fame speeches ever.
