Paul Heyman And Roman Reigns Talked WWE Into Major Storyline Change
Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman pushed through some changes.
It was recently reported that Triple H backed Vince McMahon’s decision to have Roman Reigns beat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. The loss set up Rhodes’ struggle back to the top before being crowned at WrestleMania 40. But who got McMahon to postpone Rhodes’ coronation for a year?
According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was Reigns and Paul Heyman who talked McMahon into changing course.
One of the reasons so many in WWE were pushing for Rhodes to face Reigns, besides that they had promised it to Rhodes when Reigns and Paul Heyman convinced both Vince McMahon and Paul Levesque last year to change the finish because they believed it would be more beneficial in getting people like Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa over as well as many others and make Rhodes a bigger star to hold off the switch for a year.
Pitch Made For The Rock To Beat Roman Reigns
Meltzer went on to break down a pitch for The Rock to beat Roman Reigns for the World Championship before returning to Hollywood.
The storyline would have seen Cody Rhodes involved in an injury angle, setting up Rock vs. Reigns at WrestleMania. The Rock would have beaten Reigns and then gone back to Hollywood, continuing to call himself “The People’s Champion” tying into the Hall of Fame ceremony.
With Rock out of the picture, Reigns would have got the title back, before eventually being beaten by Rhodes.
