Paul Heyman Praises Greatest Female Roster In History

Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman thinks WWE’s female stars are the best the industry has ever seen.

Over the last decade, WWE has placed an increased emphasis on women’s wrestling and that has seen an explosion in female stars taking the industry by storm. WWE stars have been responsible for some of the best women’s matches ever seen in North America, and in many cases, they’re now seen on the same level as their male counterparts.

During this period, women have main evented WrestleMania, and stars such as Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley are recognised as some of the biggest on the planet regardless of gender.

This is a far cry from WWE’s traditional view of female performers who were hired specifically for their sex appeal rather than their skills in the ring.

Paul Heyman Compares WWE Stars To Tennis Legends

During an appearance at Bloomberg Power Players New York, alongside Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman couldn’t say enough good things about the female talent in WWE. When asked about how WWE looks to bring in female fans, Heyman said he prefers to let the talent speak for itself.

“We have in WWE right now, what is the equivalent to when the Williams [Venus Williams and Serena Williams] sisters came onto the tennis court. We have the greatest female roster in the history of this industry and they’re not just there for sex and appeal. They are there because women in the WWE right now are the best.

Ronda Rousey came to WWE to display her athletic skills. While doing it, she got a chance to also display her own persona as a character. When Ronda Rousey, who is to MMA what the Williams sisters were to tennis, comes to WWE to do that, it speaks volumes of what we’re doing.

The women here are not only magnificent athletes, they have acting chops as well. You won’t find that anywhere else. You either find great actresses or great athletes. Here, you find the marriage of them both.”

During the same appearance, Roman Reigns urged WWE to “stick to our values and kind of the morals” rather than embracing more adult content. Reigns was responding to a question about Raw’s move to Netflix in January 2025.

While Reigns was against making changes, Heyman suggested the tone of the content would depend on the storyline.
