Paul Heyman Confronted Over Ex-WWE Star’s Condition As Spot Scrapped
WWE Hall of Famer Sunny has not had her troubles to seek and all the way back to her early days in ECW, drugs played their part as Paul Heyman was left without one of his favourite spots.
On March 25th, 2022, Tammy Sytch was arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter. There were multiple other offences as well when Sytch caused an automobile accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident resulted in the death of 75-year-old Julian Lasseter.
The incident happened when Sytch drove full speed into Lasseter’s car while he was stopped at a traffic light. The 50-year-old Sytch had a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher.
Prior to the incident that killed Lasseter, Sytch had previously been arrested at least six times due to impaired driving. In November 2023 Tammy Sytch was sentenced to 17 years in prison as a result of the charges.
Lance Storm Sets Paul Heyman Straight
Tammy Sytch has had a long history of trouble with drugs and alcohol and her condition was already causing grave cause for concern during her time in ECW in the mid-nineties.
On Figure Four Daily, Lance Storm was asked if he’d ever had to wrestle anyone under the influence of drugs and alcohol and while he’s never felt he shared the ring with anyone unfit to perform, he did tell ECW boss Paul Heyman in no uncertain terms, that a planned spot featuring WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch and Dawn Marie wasn’t happening due to Sytch’s condition:
I’ve never wrestled anyone who I thought was not in the state to perform. Now I think I’ve told this story before that Tammy Sytch (Sunny) once when she was seconding Chris Candido, I think it was the dog track in Revere when I had Dawn Marie with me. They were supposed to do a spot in the match, the standard catfight, you know, tear Dawn’s clothes off down to her bra and thong.
In the afternoon, Tammy was in such a state that I went to Paul [Heyman] and said ‘Just so you know, the women’s spot is not happening tonight.’ He’s like ‘What do you mean?!’ I said ‘I’m not letting her touch Dawn Marie, it’s not happening.’ Paul put up a little bit of a protest and eventually just conceded. I was like ‘You can say what you want Paul, she’s not touching her, the spot’s not happening, I’m looking out for Dawn’ and the spot never happened.
