Paul Heyman Defends His WrestleMania 41 Actions
The “Wise Man” Paul Heyman has fired shots at Roman Reigns and CM Punk following a controversial WrestleMania 41 main event.
In the main event of WrestleMania 41 Saturday, Seth Rollins defeated his longtime rivals CM Punk and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match thanks to Paul Heyman.
There was no title shot on the line in the Rollins-Punk-Reigns match, nor was the winner promised a title shot, but it was an opportunity for three rivals to try to settle their issues.
Going into the match, Paul Heyman did a favor for Punk by being in his corner even though Heyman was Reigns’ special counsel and “Wise Man” for the past five years.
Heyman was the difference maker because he went into the ring and he hit Punk with a low blow, while handing Reigns a steel chair. Reigns beat down Punk with the chair. Heyman went on to shockingly low blow Reigns as well, so Rollins got the chair, beat up Reigns with it and after Rollins hit The Stomp on Reigns, Rollins covered the Tribal Chief for the win.
While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Paul Heyman justified his actions by criticizing Reigns while also blasting Punk for being a lousy best friend.
“My savior did not resurrect himself on Easter Sunday. He couldn’t because he was put down on Saturday and there was no resurrection, benediction, or absolution in the life of the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. There couldn’t be.
Let’s be clear about this, I didn’t betray Roman Reigns. Did I put my hands on Roman Reigns and shove him down to the canvas in front of millions of people? I didn’t touch Roman Reigns. What did I do? I got shoved to the canvas. I got emasculated in front of the WWE Universe by my Tribal Chief. I pleaded with him.
My best friend did a favor. Saved Roman Reigns’ family. CM Punk, not much of a best friend, look at the position he put me in. What a compromising position CM Punk put me in against my own Tribal Chief. What kind of best friend was CM Punk? A lousy best friend. A s**tty best friend.”
Paul Heyman Claims He Was Loyal To CM Punk
As he continued, Paul Heyman conitnued to criticiz Punk for not being a good friend.
“I was loyal to CM Punk. I brought him back after Hell in a Cell. I gave him a spotlight. I gave him a chance to redeem himself with Roman Reigns. He puts me in this impossible, emotional, compromising position that was an absolute no win. Not only was it a no win, it was a must lose with my Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. That’s my best friend?”
To find out what’s next in the new alliance between Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman, fans will have to tune into WWE Monday Night Raw on April 21st.
