Pat McAfee Replacement Named For WWE Raw
Pat McAfee will miss WWE Monday Night Raw due to other commitments, so a replacement is needed for one week only.
The WWE Monday Night Raw commentary team in the Netflix era will be Michael Cole and Pat McAfee nearly every week. However, McAfee will be off for at least one week.
In addition to his WWE job, Pat McAfee also has a very successful ESPN/YouTube show called the Pat McAfee Show every weekday. McAfee is also a co-host on the very popular ESPN College Gameday show on Saturdays from September through most of December.
This coming Monday, January 20th, the College Football Playoff National Championship game will take place between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Atlanta. McAfee will be working on the football game that day and won’t be at Raw. ESPN sent out a press release about McAfee’s involvement in the football game.
Returning in 2025, the fan favorite Field Pass will lead the MegaCast offerings from this year’s National Championship on ESPN2. Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show will offer entertaining, free-flowing commentary of the CFP National Championship Game, anchored by Pat McAfee, who will roam the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
McAfee will call the action from the unique vantage point, joined by AJ Hawk, Darius Butler, Connor Campbell, Ty Schmit and Tone Digs, as well as a rotation of ESPN analysts, notable personalities, and celebrities throughout the game.
Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show delivered the largest audience for any ESPN alternate telecast on record with 2.4 million viewers from the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential.
Wade Barrett To Replace Pat McAfee On WWE Monday Night Raw
During the January 17th WWE SmackDown broadcast from San Diego. announcers Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett casually mentioned that Barrett will be at Raw this coming Monday in Dallas. Michael Cole has done many shows with Wade Barrett in the past, so they should have plenty of chemistry.
Corey Graves is another WWE announcer who could be considered a replacement for McAfee for one week, but Graves is likely in the WWE doghouse after his social media outburst complaining about his spot in WWE’s commentator hierarchy. Graves was replaced on SmackDown by Tessitore and Barrett while Graves was moved to NXT, and he didn’t take it well.
Pat McAfee will likely be back on WWE commentary for the January 27th edition of Raw, which is the final Raw before the Royal Rumble on February 1st in Indianapolis, which is where McAfee lives.
