Pat McAfee Did A Sandman Tribute Before Smackdown

Pat McAfee is known for having a good time at WWE Smackdown shows and the former NFL punter recently paid tribute to ECW legend Sandman in Philadelphia.

Smackdown was in Philadelphia this past Friday, which is known as the home of Extreme Championship Wrestling. In honor of that, McAfee paid tribute to a former ECW Champion and one of the most popular ECW wrestlers ever, Sandman.

When McAfee was announced to the crowd he walked out to the classic rock song “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. McAfee brought out a kendo stick just like Sandman used to do and even had a cigarette although it was probably something else. When McAfee got the commentary table, he hit it with the kendo stick just before he sat down to call the action with Michael Cole.

McAfee is known for “rocking out” a lot on Smackdown since he gets very excited when Rick Boogs does the introduction for King Nakamura and then Boogs plays the electric guitar as Nakamura makes his way down to the ring. For the last several weeks, Boogs and Nakamura have usually gone over towards McAfee so that the three of them can rock out to the Nakamura song.

The WWE Smackdown brand has some big matches at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view in Columbus, Ohio with McAfee on hand to call the action with Michael Cole. While the Carmella match against Liv Morgan is not necessarily that important, it is big for Morgan to get a win on PPV. Also, Becky Lynch defends the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair in a highly anticipated SummerSlam rematch.

In addition to those matches, Extreme Rules could be headlined by Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against “Demon” Finn Balor in another match that should get McAfee and everybody else excited.

If you need a reminder of Sandman’s epic entrance in his ECW days, here it is from ECW One Night Stand 2005.
