Orange Cassidy Makes AEW Promise Ahead Of Full Gear
Orange Cassidy has boldly declared that he will become the next AEW World Champion.
Cassidy is set to battle Jon Moxley for the coveted gold at AEW Full Gear and addressed the much anticipated bout during the 2nd November edition of AEW Collision, held in the challenger’s hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The former AEW International Champion appeared from the crowd and opted to address Wheeler Yuta, who was stood in the ring alongside Moxley following PAC’s victory over Action Andretti.
The popular star appealed to old friend Yuta, reminding him of their old training days with Chuck Taylor and insisting that the old Wheeler Yuta would never have allowed the vicious assault on their mentor that took place on the 23rd October edition of Dynamite.
The horrific attack saw Moxley drag Chuck Taylor to the ring before Claudio Castagnoli stomped on a chair that had been wrapped around the helpless Taylor’s head.
Cassidy would go on to state his belief that Moxley was merely using Wheeler Yuta:
“He doesn’t care about you, he’s never cared about you. He’s using you and I need to show you. I need to show everybody that Jon Moxley is not the man he says he is.
And you know how I do that? I put a stop to all the promises and everything he says now. At Full Gear, I bring back the old Wheeler Yuta, I bring back AEW and I beat Jon Moxley and become the next AEW World Champion.”
An infuriated Moxley swiftly delivered a pair of thunderous slaps to Yuta before demanding he attack his former friend. A reluctant Yuta chased Cassidy with a chair but hesitated and was ultimately dropped with an Orange Punch before the number one contender retreated to the frustration of an annoyed Moxley.
The pair will do battle at AEW Full Gear on 23rd November at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Orange Cassidy Fires Back At Common Criticism
With his laid back persona, Orange Cassidy has often be labelled as a comedy wrestler over the years. It is a label that the 40 year-old refutes.
During a recent interview with ‘The Athletic‘, Cassidy highlighted his view that all types of wrestling are an art form:
“I don’t really like the term comedy wrestler because I feel that professional wrestling is an art.
This is the art I create and art, to me, should generate emotions out of people. Those emotions could be laughter. They could also be joy, it could also be sadness, it could be regret, it could be depression.
If I was just a comedic wrestler, would people really care, would they be invested?”
