Only One Male WWE Name Won The Divas Championship; He Never Lost It

While several female WWE legends have held the Divas Championship, only one man has won it and never lost it.

The Divas Championship was introduced in 2008, with Michelle McCool becoming the inaugural champion. The former teacher was followed by several huge names later who captured the title, including Natalya, Mickie James, AJ Lee, Melina, Eve Torres, and Paige.

Charlotte Flair was the last WWE Superstar to hold the Divas Championship. Her reign lasted for 195 days before the title was retired in April 2016, when Lita introduced a new Women’s Championship.

A Former WWE Name Won The Divas Championship From Eve Torres On A Bus

On April 12, 2010, Eve Torres captured the Divas Championship after defeating Maryse on Monday Night RAW. In his book, “Best Seat in the House: Your Backstage Pass Through My WWE Journey,”former WWE ring announcer and backstage interviewer Justin Roberts disclosed that he won the title from Torres that same night on the tour bus.

Roberts revealed that they were playing card games when he asked the WWE legend to put her title on the line. He beat her to win the title. The 45-year-old added that he and Torres later joked with all the ladies who won the title that he was the rightful champion since he won it and never defended it.

Not only did RAW take place in London, England, on April 12, 2010, but I also became the Divas Champion. Wait. What? Before they reverted to a Woman’s Championship, Eve Torres won the Divas title that night, and we had been playing a series of Gin card games on the tour bus. We decided that we needed to put something on the line to make this game different and more meaningful than all the rest. I asked her to put her newly won title on the line.

I don’t remember what I wagered, but it didn’t matter because she lost the game, and I was the new Divas Champion! Our ongoing joke was pulling aside the future ladies that won the title and letting them know that it’s cool for them to wear the belt, but it was actually mine since I won and never defended it.
