One WWE Legend Is Refusing To Retire
A popular former WWE star isn’t ready to walk away quite yet.
Across two spells with WWE and three runs with TNA, Mickie James established herself as one of the most successful female stars of the last 25 years.
James wrestled her last match for TNA in October 2023 and has made only occasional independent appearances since, leading some to believe her in-ring career may be over. However, the woman herself isn’t ready to call it quits.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, James discussed her career and what might come next in light of her recent TNA Hall of Fame induction. Despite her recent inactivity, the star said she’s ready to keep wrestling, although she’s already achieved everything she dreamed of.
“Hell, yeah! I could do 10 more. But it’s also with the career that I’ve been so blessed to have, and the moments that I’ve been able to have and the people that I’ve been able to work with, I could retire tomorrow and be a happy woman. I don’t have anything else, I think, to prove in the wrestling business, but I also love it, and there’s nothing like it.
I’ve been able to act in films. I’ve been able to do music and perform on stages and alongside mega names and stuff like that, which is also incredible. But there’s nothing like performing in front of a live wrestling audience, especially when they’re so invested in your story, in that story, because it’s the emotion, that’s what we live for. That’s that’s the art of this dance that we do.”
Mickie James Upset WWE Bosses
During the same interview, Mickie James recalled her controversial WrestleMania 22 win over Trish Stratus. At the end of a nine-minute battle, James pinned Stratus to win her first Women’s Championship, less than a year after arriving on the main roster.
However, the match is best remembered for James grabbing Stratus’s crotch during the action before turning to the crowd and flicking her tongue between her fingers.
Although the spot got the desired reaction from the crowd, Vince McMahon yelled at the star backstage, claiming it had cost the company a fortune.
