The One Job The Undertaker Would Never Do In WWE

The Undertaker

The Undertaker always knew the WWE role he didn’t want.

As a wrestler reaches the end of their in-ring career, one of the traditional pathways to the next stage of their working life is to move to the announce desk. While the results are sometimes mixed, it’s not an uncommon sight.

Even when wrestlers are injured, a quick stint on commentary is a way of keeping them in fans’ minds without needing to take bumps in the ring.

But according to The Undertaker, as he wound down his own in-ring career, he knew it was never going to work for him.

The Undertaker Wanted No Part Of WWE Role

Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, ‘Taker explained why he decided against moving into a non-wrestling role on television, and more specifically why he never contemplated joining the commentary table.

“There is absolutely zero chance I would have ever went on commentary. They’ve got it the absolute worst. Funny thing is, though, what people don’t realize, there were two really good places to watch the show from: either at Gorilla position next to Vince [McMahon] or go to the truck and listen to Kevin Dunn communicate to his people.”

When discussing Vince McMahon’s reputation for screaming at his announcers through their headsets, the veteran admitted things would be intense during those moments, but everything was forgotten by the time the show was over.

“I get this, and it doesn’t really bother me, but when it’s done it’s over. Like, when the show was over, [Vince] wasn’t mad at me; no one’s mad at anyone.

In the heat of the moment, and especially during when we were getting our tails handed to us in the ratings and everything, man, it was a little intense.”

While he’s no longer on-screen, at least on a regular basis, The Undertaker continues to give advice to WWE’s current generation. During a recent interview, Damian Priest recalled his regular interactions with The Deadman, who isn’t afraid to give him the honest feedback required.
