Oba Femi’s Challenger For New Year’s Evil Confirmed On NXT Tonight

Oba Femi NXT Champion

A huge main event was scheduled for tonight’s edition of WWE NXT, as a new number one contender for the NXT Championship was crowned at the end of tonight’s show.

Traditionally, the winner of the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge competes for the NXT Championship at the following year’s New Year’s Evil, but this year’s winner, Je’Von Evans, used his opportunity at last week’s episode.

This led to a number one contender’s match being announced for tonight’s episode. NXT General Manager Ava announced last week that the remaining competitors of the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge will compete in a fatal four way to determine Oba’s next challenger.

Leon Slater becomes the number one contender of the NXT title

The match was made official between Dion Lennox, Myles Borne, Joe Hendry, and Leon Slater as all of them were tied on one point each when the timer hit zero during the Iron Survivor Challenge.

All four competitors wrestled an exciting match infront of the NXT Universe, with all of them gaining the upper hand during separate instances in the match.

Leon Slater was arguably the most active member of the match and was present in almost every big spot. It seemed like he would go on to win the match, while only wrestling on one knee. He hit a Swanton Bomb on Lennox beofre being taken out by a dropkick by Myles Borne.

The field was then cleared by Joe Hendry and Borne beofre Lennox and Hendry got involved in a brawl of their own, leaving Borne and Slater in the ring. The TNA star ultimately puched his way to New Year’s Evil after hitting the Swanton 450 splash on Myles Borne to set up a date with Oba Femi.
