Oba Femi Could Face WWE Legend At WrestleMania 42

WWE sees Oba Femi as a major main-event prospect, and his big break could come as early as WrestleMania 42

Oba Femi has consistently been one of the most dominant and successful wrestlers in WWE’s developmental brand NXT.

He showed his mettle in WWE’s main roster recently by facing off against the WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes in a Champion Vs Champion Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) on December 13th, 2025. Although the match ended in a no-contest due to interference from Drew McIntyre, Femi was able to showcase his dominance with his powerful offense as he wrestled WWE’s top babyface.

Even the promo Femi cut on SmackDown before SNME, where he faced off with Rhodes, was intense and showcased his mic skills, making him a top draw for WWE.

Femi recently retained his NXT World Championship at New Year’s Evil on January 6th, 2026, but went on to then shockingly leave the title in the middle of the ring as if to say that his time in NXT was done. WWE confirmed this later on social media, saying that the title is now vacant. Reports suggest that Femi will be joining WWE Raw and will be put into the main-event scene in the build-up to WrestleMania 42.

Oba Femi Could Face Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 42

On WrestleVotes Radio Via Fightful Select, Joey Votes revealed that WWE has been discussing WrestleMania plans for Femi despite him not having appeared on the main roster yet.

We’ve learned that creative has discussed some big, high-level plans with Oba Femi’s name attached to them regarding WrestleMania,” Joey said. “Normally rookies don’t have a big-time spot on a WrestleMania card – that seems to be different here.

The hosts even floated the idea of a non-title match he could have with Brock Lesnar, which could end up being a titanic bout, and the bigger star Lesnar could help put Femi over and give him a push.

Joey: Can you get away with Oba Femi versus Brock Lesnar?
Host: Yeah, of course you could… I’m sure Brock would be happy to do the honors for him and kind of put the rub on him.
