NXT Star Ready To Scrap With Gunther

Gunther WWE

An NXT star is doing their best to prepare for Gunther.

After losing the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, Gunther disappeared from television. According to several reports, the Austrian star underwent surgery after breaking his nose, and generally took some time off to recover from a bruising run since exploding onto the main roster in 2022.

However, on November 17, he’ll return to action as part of the Last Time Is Now tournament to decide John Cena’s final opponent. It’s long been believed that the record-breaking Intercontinental Champion will be the man to ultimately retire Cena.

Standing in his way in the first round will be NXT standout Je’Von Evans. The frighteningly athletic Evans has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining WWE in late 2023, with many tipping him to take the main event scene by storm before too long.

Gunther Sets Nerves Racing

During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show/The Masked Man Show, Evans looked ahead to his match on Raw when the red brand lands at Madison Square Garden. What’s clear is that Evans is keenly aware of the challenge facing him, arguably his biggest since signing with WWE.

“I’m excited. I’m nervous, of course. And when I get there bro, I’m gonna have so many butterflies and all. I’ve literally watched Gunther for a very long time. I was watching Gunther on the indies, you know what I mean? Because I wanted to learn how to work against bigger people. And he was a great example of that.

I know it’s gonna be a hard fight, bro. We’re gonna be scrapping. I’m not gonna back down either. You chop me? I’m gonna chop you back, OG. This is a great opportunity to showcase what I can do.”

In the other tournament match on the show, Solo Sikoa will face an unnamed opponent.
