Major NXT Star Wants John Cena Match Before Retirement
A rising NXT star hopes to face John Cena before the 16-time World Champion hangs up his boots for good.
Back in June, John Cena announced his plan to retire, but there was a twist. In a move fitting of one of the biggest stars of his generation, Cena decided against having just one more match, instead revealing that he will have a retirement tour that will last through 2025.
With his time officially running out, most of the WWE roster will be trying to find a way to get in the ring with the Face that Runs the Place before he leaves wrestling behind. The latest star to make his intentions known is NXT’s Oba Femi.
During an appearance on Going Ringside, the former NXT North American Champion was asked about his dream matches when he moves up to the main roster. As well as Randy Orton, Gunther, and Drew McIntyre, the star named Cena, saying he wants to face him before he retires and “leaves us alone.”
“Main roster, Randy [Orton], John Cena hopefully before he retires and leaves us alone, Gunther, Drew McIntyre.”
Oba Femi’s winning streak came to a crashing end on NXT at the hands of Tony D’Angelo. The Don defeated Femi and became the new North American Champion in the process.
CM Punk Weighs In On John Cena’s Final WWE Opponent
CM Punk has had his say on who John Cena will face in his final match. While the Second City Saint would be “flattered” to be part of Cena’s retirement tour, he’s more interested who he will pick for his last outing.
While many think one of the many foes from Cena’s past will end his career, Punk believes he will go another route and choose a rising star, maybe even someone that “nobody else is really seeing.”
